Carl Walrond

Carl Walrond is a Wellington-based writer at Te Ara – The Encyclopedia of New Zealand and a contributor to New Zealand Geographic magazine. He was born in Swaziland in 1972 and arrived in New Zealand in 1983. A keen tramper, his best job ever was two summers in the mid-1990s spent as a hut warden on the Kepler and Greenstone tracks. He has first hand experience of being lost – in the New Zealand bush, in Lapland and in Invercargill.
